Lenten Retreat 2019
The Passion According to St. Luke
New Melleray Abbey
March 8-10, 2019
This silent retreat will focus on the Last Supper, the rejection/trial of Jesus, His crucifixion, and His resurrection as told in this year’s gospel of Luke. Part pants may want to read Luke Chapters 22 & 23 beforehand. We will consider His passion from the perspective of Repentance, a common theme in Luke, and what it tells us about the Character of Jesus Christ. Character is the determination of oneself formed by having certain intention and beliefs and not others. It comes from that to which we devote ourselves for its own sake.
The Retreat will begin with Vespers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The first conference is at 6:45 Friday evening. Two conferences and a discussion period will be on Saturday. A concluding conference will be given on Sunday morning. The retreat will conclude after Eucharist with a closing blessing at 10:15 on Sunday Morning. The cost is $180 for those staying at the abbey; this includes meals, room, and materials. The fee is $85 for those commuting.
