Saturday in the Thirty-Second Week of Ordinary Time

[Scripture Readings: Wis 18:14-16; 19:6-9; Lk 18:1-8 ]

Jesus and his disciples The widow in today's Gospel suffered a double moral evil: great harm from an adversary and from an unjust judge. Yet, she kept believing that if she cried out day after day the corrupt judge would finally act justly, and he did.

But there is sadness in our Lord's words at the end of the story. He says, “When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?” Let us ask Mary, the Queen of Peace, that we may never lose faith but keep crying out against the monstrous physical and moral evils of our times, especially abortion and terrorism. May we see the day when all people, and our leaders and our judges act justly.

Saturday in the Thirty-Second Week of Ordinary Time

[Scripture Readings: 3 Jn 1:5-8; Lk 18:1-8]

One day Jesus told the story of a widow who suffered a double moral evil, great harm from an adversary and an unjust judge. Yet, she kept believing that if she cried out day after day the corrupt judge would finally act justly, and he did.

But there is sadness in our Lord's words at the end of the story. He says, “When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?” May we never lose faith but keep crying out against the monstrous physical and moral evils of our times until our president and our judges act justly.
