Tuesday in the Twenty-Third Week of Ordinary Time

St. Luke emphasizes the prayer life of Jesus. Luke is the only one who tells us that Jesus spent whole nights in prayer, taking time to be alone, to turn his mind and heart entirely to his Father.

Why is such prayer so important? Because prayer is awareness with love of God, and that is the first commandment: to love God with our whole heart, our whole mind, and with all our strength.

So, the first and greatest commandment is to pray. This is the primary vocation of every human being both now and for eternity:  awareness with love of God.
