Jan 27 – The Last Lecture of Fr Michael Himes

Fr. Michael Himes

This evening several of us gathered to  watch a segment of Fr. Michael Himes’ “Last Lecture” delivered at Boston College in November of 2008. A “last lecture” (most prominently known for the lecture and book of the same name by Randy Pausch) is an invitation for an academic professor to deliver a lecture on what matters most to them and the wisdom they would impart to their audience one last time. After watching the video we discussed our impressions and thoughts on Fr. Himes observations and sharings.

13.  Communal discussions and dialogues, forms of Gospel sharing and fraternal correction, can be important means in the formation of the community.  In these and other ways, members of the community are trained to listen to others, exposed to different viewpoints and encouraged to develop skills of self-expression.
