Friday in the Fourth Week of Easter

Scripture Readings: Acts 13:26-33;  Jn 14:1-6

“I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” What we have experienced in our relationship with Christ is what we are to pass on. It is what our monastic life—or any spiritual way of life—is about.

If we follow this way we will do so by imitating the love of Jesus. Love is seeking the good of others for the others own sake. We do this by allowing the love of Jesus to flow through each of us for the benefit of others. How do we do that? By the same means Christ used: kenosis; self-emptying. That means is outlined in Philippians 2:  we reject whatever status we have before others and decide to act in self-giving. In freeing oneself to love others, one is able to free them to love. Love liberates.

Perhaps the only question we will be asked when it is time to give account of how we lived is this one: Did you let my people go?
